Elemental Emergent is a non-profit organization geared in educating the public on matters that are important for survival in urban America. We promote homesteading as opposed to prepping in an emergency. Prepping is simply preparedness for the “oh no” time period of a disaster. Homesteading is a sustainable life style choice in which you can utilize your supplies when you need to. Homesteading can be done in an apartment or a house, depending on what you want to do.
The name Elemental could mean the elements or parts of life that are against your survival such as hurricanes, tornados, or even terrorists. Or elemental can be the components needed to be ready for an emergency or everyday life. Emergent simply means preparing for the emergency before it occurs.
We teach you to be prepared. And we believe that you will get quality information from us, regardless if you are an individual, a couple, or an entire family. We are very family oriented, and since the Covid pandemic, many families are looking for things that their kids can learn in a home schooling environment. All we teach is practical knowledge that has a science base. Most of what we teach is very hands on learning.
And to show your accomplishments, we use a merit badge type system called “Elements”. Each element is a patch that you can display that shows how much knowledge you have on a certain element of learning. Kids 16 and up can work on elements for the adult classes. Kids 5-15 can work on Cadet elements as well as Adult elements.
We are based out of the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. We are an urban environment that has a lot of resources. We are a volunteer organization. The monies we get are used for overhead costs of supplies, website, elements, and other administrative costs.
Due to the fact that we are an educational organization, there is a membership involved that has different criteria for each level. A single person is simply one person. A family unit consists of every member of the family that utilizes the same address and prove they are in the same family. It can be mother, father, sister, brother, child, grandparent, cousin, foster child, etc.
This organization’s membership is in three tiers. Tier 1 membership costs more, but there are shop discounts, downloaded material is free, and they are able to work on the self-defense sections that others cannot do. In addition, they will work toward becoming teaching staff. A background check is mandatory for this tier, as we do not allow anyone to teach children that are not their own without a background check. All kids of tier 1 members get kid specialty classes and camps free.
Single price for Tier 1 is $40 per year, Family Price is $60 per year. Downloadable material is free on the internet, discounts are factored in to the price of items bought directly from the website’s shop. Background checks must be completed and passed to get Tier 1 Membership.
Tier 2 membership is a bit cheaper; they get 12 downloads a year and shop discounts. Background check is not needed, but they cannot do self-defense classes or teach. All kids of tier 2 members get kid specialty classes and camps half off.
Tier 2 membership prices are $30 per year for a single, family units’ cost $45 per year. After the first 12 downloads, additional downloads will cost full price. Downloads can be anything from a copy of the lesson to blueprints, recipes, etc. There will be much more than 12 downloaded materials to choose from per year, so choose wisely and take notes during classes. Kids camps are discounted.
Tier 3 Members are simply guest members. This is for those that do not live in our area and still want to get some information. Or they do live in the area and don’t want to be tied down to feeling they have to pay a membership. The cost is free, but all the items in the shop and downloads cost. Kids specialty classes are $15 per class and it cost $60 per bundle or camp. Materials must be supplied by the attendee at this level.
