When we think of animals that are poisonous or venomous, we often think of bees. And while they are venomous, they are not the only animal out there that is. There are a lot of dangerous animals lurking about. Some are native, some are not.
So what is the difference between poisonous and venomous? There is a difference, do you know it?
Venomous animals inject a toxin or poison into you. They do this by biting or stinging you. Rattlesnakes are venomous. So are bees and wasps. Poisonous animals are those that poison you when you ingest them. That means if you eat a poisonous animal, you will digest those poisons and get very sick.
And we have both poisonous and venomous creatures in our midst. It is important to learn about all of them.
