Gardening can be done in many ways. One does not have to dig a spot in the yard to grow a garden. And in an urban environment, much like Hampton Roads, recyclable material can be found almost anywhere to be used as a garden of sorts.
Old tires, kiddie pools, pallets, milk crates, 2-litre soda bottles, 2-5 gallon buckets, etc. can all be used to build a garden of sorts. And just because you may live in an apartment, that does not mean you cannot use recyclables to make the garden of your dreams.
Here we have our first lesson on building a pallet garden. This is great for herbs, lettuce, cabbage, or even strawberries. Basically any short rooted garden vegetable will work. It is not suitable for onions, potatoes, or root vegetables because of the short soil depth. It is also not suited for tomatoes or peppers because these plants are top heavy. But there are other ways to grow these things in more video presentations to come.
